Big Brother Canada is seemingly doubling down on their decision to shift from Live Feeds to Digital Dailies content. Yesterday, we reported that the Digital Dailies section had been removed from the website. However, we weren’t convinced it meant that the Digital Dailies were gone for good. Instead, we speculated that they could bring back Live Feeds or it could be smart marketing to create buzz.
Turns out it was smart marketing. The official Big Brother 12 press release confirmed that the Live Feeds are not returning. Digital Dailies are back for a second season. The announcement made no mention of Live Feeds. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that BBCAN is likely trying to pivot away from them for good.
The press release also revealed that BBCAN has a record-breaking eleven sponsors. They include some of the usual sponsors, such as Winners and Wendy’s. BBCAN12 has five returning sponsors and six new ones.
The news of the Digital Dailies will likely disappoint long-time fans, but they may be excited to learn that Big Brother Canada 12 plans to announce the new cast this week. This isn’t much of a surprise because, with only a week before the premiere, you could assume the cast reveal was soon.
The press release also revealed that this year’s winner will get $200,000 in cash and prizes — the highest prize in the show’s history.
Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan of the BBCAN Digital Dailies last season, but the BBCAN producers have clearly made a decision that seems to be the new norm for them. All I (and those disappointed about this news) can hope for is some improvements to their format.
